A $222,516 road-improvement contract for Cumberland County was announced today, June 20, by the Department of Transportation and Public Works. The contract was awarded to Industrial Cold Milling Limited and involves the application of a surface treatment on Wyvern Road from the intersection of Route 321 at River Philip for 8.1 kilometres to Wentworth Collingwood Road. “This treatment will improve traction on a glossy section of Wyvern Road,” said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. “It will also seal cracks and extend the life of the pavement.” The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
