Beastie Boys Open Up Famous Oscilloscope Recording Studio For Music Students

first_imgThe Beastie Boys just worked out an agreement with New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music recently, opening up their famed Oscilloscope recording studio for use by students in the program.According to the Institute’s chair, Jeff Rabhan, students are now able to “work and record” in the famous location. Oscilloscope is the site of Beastie Boys recordings like To The 5 Boroughs, The Mix Up, and Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2, and other notable artists have recorded there as well, including Jack White, M.I.A, Yoko Ono, Jenny Lewis, Kanye West and more.The studio will be part of the “Capstone Projects” program, where senior students will be tasked with creating a “customized, entrepreneurial music business venture.” You can read more about the studio here.[Via Billboard]last_img
