We are therefore pleased that out Columbian friends have agreed to assist with the expansion of the new variety of cassava in the Kalinago Territory,” she said. Baron noted that the expansion has already been done in Jamaica, and training for Kalinago farmers will occur in Jamaica as well. “The hope is that the Kalinago experience will be used for the introduction of the new variety throughout the island. In fact we’ve agreed that the persons form Jamaica who have worked in the cassava industry can come to Dominica to share their experiences, to share what they have learnt and to share the dos and the don’ts in relation to cassava production. And we expect to benefit greatly from that experience,” she explained.
