The Argonauts completed the series sweep over the Wonder Boys to improve to 18-4 on the season; Arkansas Tech fell to 11-8.Vargas-Vila had retired 26 consecutive batters, with two outs in the ninth inning pinch hitter Michael Milum drew a walk to break up the perfect game. The next batter Matt Johnson snapped the no-hitter on a ground ball single through the right side of the infield. Vargas-Vila earned his second one-hitter of the season, his first coming against then ranked No. 20 Delta State on February 20, striking out five as he led UWF to 5-0 win over the Wonder Boys. Senior Dustin Lawley (Bessemer, Ala./Wallace State CC-Hanceville (Bessemer Academy) led the Argos offensively going 2-4 with two RBI, as the team scored a run in every inning but the third, fourth, and fifth.Taye Larry (Panama City, Fla./Wallace State CC-Dothan (Mosley HS) scored the first run of the game, in the first, off an RBI single up the middle by Lawley. Korey Domenick (Festus, Mo./Mineral Area (Festus HS) led off the second inning with a double down the right field line and later came around to score off an RBI single to left field by Brandon Brewer (Apopka, Fla./Apopka HS) giving the Argos a 2-0 lead.The Argonaut offense struck again in the sixth after Josh Huggins (Bay Minette, Ala./Faulkner State CC (Baldwin County HS) was driven in by a single to right field by Zach Taylor (Vandiver, Ala./Wallace State CC-Hanceville (Coosa Valley Academy). Lawley picked up his second RBI of the game as he drove Larry in for the second time, on a single to center field. UWF added another insurance run in the eighth when Huggins scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by Tyler Hastings (Valparaiso, Fla./Niceville HS), securing the victory 5-0.West Florida will be back in action Tuesday March 15 against Mississippi Valley State at Jim Spooner Field.
