first_imgKolkata: The state government’s attempt to create more employment has been reflected on the Budget presented by Finance minister Amit Mitra, as he announced provision of Rs 1 lakh for 50,000 youths every year, so that they can start their own venture.For this, a fund of Rs 500 crore has been allotted by the government for the 2019-20 financial year. One of the main objectives behind the scheme is to ensure that the unemployed youths become self-dependent. Once these youths start their businesses, they will also be able to employ others,” Mitra said during a press conference outside the Assembly on Monday. The minister also said that the government has helped to start around 90 lakh small scale businesses in the state so far. In another significant move, the state government has decided to hike the salary of the contractual Group C and Group D employees in various departments, by Rs 2,000 per month. In addition to that, an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for the contractual Group C and D employees in the state Budget on Monday. As a result of this, a contractual employee from both the groups will be able to draw a total amount of Rs 3 lakh after their retirement. Earlier, the government had announced Rs 2 lakh in two phases. The incentives of Anganwadi workers have also been increased by Rs 500 per month, Mitra mentioned.last_img
