first_imgThe American College of Greece (ACG) is an independent 501(c)(3)U.S. non-profit organization and is the oldest and largest Americanaccredited educational institution in Europe. Founded in 1875 inSmyrna, Asia Minor, and relocated to Greece in 1923, ACG enrollsover 5,700 students served by more than 500 faculty in threeeducational divisions: Deree, Europe’s largestUS-accredited college; Alba Graduate BusinessSchool, Greece’s premier, independent graduate businessschool; Pierce, a leading independent secondaryschool.Deree enrolls over 3,500 undergraduate and graduate studentsfrom 70 countries and supports the teaching, scholarship andservice activities of approximately 300 full-time, adjunct andpart-time faculty. The College was the first U.S. institutionoutside the U.S. to receive regional accreditation (1981, NewEngland Association of Schools and Colleges – now the New EnglandCommission of Higher Education). Since 2011, Deree undergraduatedegree recipients have also been eligible to receive the HonorsAward of the Open University (UK). The Executive Dean provides leadership, management andcoordination of the Deree undergraduate and graduate programs andservices. Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief AcademicOfficer (SVP/CAO), the Executive Dean serves as a member of thePresident’s Cabinet and supervises the following administrativedirect reports: Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Dean,School of Business and Economics; Dean, Frances Rich School of Fineand Performing Arts; Dean, School of Graduate and ProfessionalEducation; Dean, Academic Administration and Registrar; Dean, ACGLibraries. SPECIFIC DUTIESCollaborate with the SVP/CAO on development of the Dereeacademic strategic plan and the annual Deree academic budget;oversee annual budget performanceCollaborate with direct reports to establish, track andevaluate annual priorities and performanceCollaborate with and support administrative offices –Marketing, Admissions, Retention – to achieve enrollment goalsSupport other administrative offices / colleagues in achievinginstitution-wide goals (e.g. advancement, ACG 150 Campaign)Coordinate bi-weekly meetings of the Academic Council and theDeans Council and periodic meetings of the CoordinatingCouncilOversee Committee on Academic Standards and Policies andCommittee on Standing and Conduct; process and respond to studentacademic appeals; interface with the Deree Student Government onacademic issuesLead Deree Faculty Meetings; review and initiate changes asneeded to the Deree Faculty Manual; oversee annual Deree facultyhiring, performance reviews, promotions and related activities(e.g. sabbatical approvals, salary adjustments)Oversee accreditation (e.g. NECHE) and validation (OpenUniversity) processesOrganize academic events and communications (e.g. DereeCommencement Committee; Faculty Orientation; Faculty Development;Faculty Authors Reception; Student Research and Creative ArtsSymposium; It’s All Academic Newsletter)Teach 1-2 courses/year and/or lead an administrative unit (e.g.Center of Excellence) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PhD and a demonstrated record of scholarship, preferably in adiscipline that would allow appointment in an appropriatedepartment at the rank of ProfessorSubstantial experience as a university faculty member andacademic administrator, preferably as a school dean orequivalentDemonstrable effectiveness in maintaining trust and mutuallysupportive relationships with faculty and administrativecolleaguesStrong written and oral communication skills, preferably withknowledge of GreekHolder of a European Passport APPLICATION PROCEDUREInterested candidates, possessing the required experience andqualifications, please complete the online application at https://www.acg.edu/careers-acg/ Position Available July 1, 2021last_img
