TheDevelopment Coordinator is frequently the first member of our teamto interact with potential and new donors and sets the tone fortheir interaction with the team. The Development Coordinator willreport directly to the Senior Development Coordinator. Keyresponsibilities of this position are: gift processing, fundmanagement, database management, reporting, and handling the officesfinances/budget. The number of sophisticated donors, the fast paceof the office, and the complexity of many prospects require a highlevel of independent thinking, attention to detail, flexibility,advanced computer skills, and excellent interpersonalcommunication.ResponsibilitiesFundraising andRelationship ManagementProcess charitable gifts to theWilmer Eye institutes 174 faculty members across our 9 Divisions, 9clinics and the Research Division. Deposit funds to appropriateaccounts, and work with divisional finance teams to create newaccounts and endowments, as needed. This position requiresinteraction with faculty, the Johns Hopkins University Treasurer’sOffice, Development Business Services, and Office of Research andSponsored Projects, departmental and division administration andappropriate offices within the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, aswell as, JHU Development and Alumni Relations centralteams.Receive gifts via mail, FedEx,Interoffice, emails/online, phone calls, and fax. Understand thespecific issues associated with receiving gifts from each source,and how to handle and process these gifts utilizing the appropriatesoftware including but not limited to CPA, Business Intelligence(BI), Aladin, PowerBi, and RelationshipManagement.Develop and maintain expertknowledge of Aladin database as well as a thorough understanding ofconstituent management, relationship management and developmentresearch policies and protocols.Master Business Intelligenceprocesses to prepare scheduled and ad hoc reports for gift officersand faculty regarding faculty engagement, new prospects/donors andfollow-up. Also, to develop mailing lists for Wilmer’s 5 yearlypublications.Oversee pledge and cash projects,managing pledge collection process.Manage the tracking, reporting andnotification process for memorial and honorary donations, includingserving as liaison with the honoree or the appropriate familymember(s).Serve as the primary point ofcontact with the Office of research and Sponsored Projects to ensurethe appropriate processing and recording of philanthropicgrants.Design and produce reports(financial and/or development) as required, utilizing Excel, word,Aladin, PowerBI, and Business Intelligence to be used forpresentation slides for Board of Governors and Faculty meetings, aswell as Wilmer publicationsWork with gift officers to gatherand interpret information and data in preparation for donormeetings, faculty meetings, events, presentations andproposals.Budget/Financials:Maintain a thorough workingknowledge of SAP financial system. Monitor and reconcile on amonthly, quarterly and annual basis the office budget in coordinationwith the Sr. Director of Development.Process receipts andreimbursements. Coordinate payment process for externalvendors.OfficeManagementEffectively communicate withhigh-level donors, patients, guests, faculty, department chairs,development staff, administrators and professional colleagues overthe telephone, in writing, and in person.Work independently, manageprojects, and determine priorities. Maintain a high degree ofprofessionalism and confidentiality. Discretion is apriority.Assist Administrative Coordinatorwith answering phones, photocopying, filing, organizational needs,and other basic administrative tasks.Assist Administrative Coordinatorwhen necessary with all development events includingprofessorships, professional meetings, receptions and Board ofGovernors meetings for the Wilmer Developmentoffice.Represent the Wilmer Eye Instituteon the Relationship Management Liaison Group, Coordinator RoundTable, and other institutional groups asappropriate.Additional tasks to be assigned asneeded.Background Experience andRequirementsHigh School Diploma/GEDrequired.Three years of related experiencerequired. Additional education may substitute for requiredexperience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalencyformula.Two years of college or equivalentwork experience preferred.Strong computer literacy skillsand the aptitude to learn new software.
